Single-Family Residence

Renovation doesn’t always mean adding more space, it can be about elevating what already exists. At Ayrlie Water, the sunroom was the client’s favorite space, prized for its views of the Magothy River. Our goal was to transform it into a comfortable, year-round retreat. While we preserved the existing roof slope, the windows, doors and finishes were thoughtfully upgraded. A new slate floor and refined window pattern bring a sense of cohesion and clarity. The defining feature, however, is a dramatic barrel-vault ceiling introduced over a modest three-foot addition, creating room for a generous built-in bench and giving the space its distinct character.

Bringing in natural light is central to our design approach, and the adjacent kitchen was reimagined with a full wall of glass. The result is abundant daylight and a much stronger connection to the outdoors, enhancing the rhythm of everyday living.
