Our client’s goal was to create a modern kitchen that would seamlessly integrate with the character of their mid-century home; a welcoming space for cooking, baking, and entertaining. To address the outdated layout, previously defined by irregular and disjointed countertops, the design introduces a three-foot addition that allows for a more cohesive and functional plan.
This expansion made way for a new central island and continuous L-shaped counter, significantly improving circulation, efficiency and overall usability. The reconfigured layout establishes clearer zones for prep, cooking and gathering, transforming the kitchen into a natural hub of the home.
Material selections balance warmth and modernity while remaining true to the home’s architectural roots. A turquoise accent tile backsplash introduces a vibrant, period-appropriate pop of color, adding visual interest and personality without overwhelming the space. Paired with clean-lined cabinetry and refined finishes, the palette reinforces a cohesive mid-century modern aesthetic.
The result is a kitchen that feels both refreshed and authentic, thoughtfully designed for contemporary living while honoring the spirit of the original home.
