Single-Family Residence

The Otter Pond Residence was reimagined through a full-scale renovation, with a focus on balancing preservation and livability. The goal was to maintain the spirit of the early 20th-century French Tudor home while updating it for the way people live today.

A comprehensive plan was developed for the 7,000-square-foot house, opening up the interiors and bringing in more natural light, especially along the back of the home, where new, large windows now frame views of the pond.

Over time, a series of additions had left the house feeling disjointed, with mismatched rooflines and a fragmented layout. The kitchen was small and outdated, all five bathrooms needed reworking, and the home’s systems—from electrical to HVAC—were due for a complete upgrade. This renovation simplifies and reconnects the house. Existing architectural elements, like the exposed timber beams and cathedral ceiling in the great room, were preserved to retain a sense of history. Living spaces were reconfigured to flow more naturally from one to the next, creating a layout that feels open, flexible, and easy—well-suited for both everyday use and entertaining.
