Single-Family Residence

The primary bath renovation transforms a compact room within this mid-century home into a serene, spa-like retreat. The design balances warmth and modern restraint, elevating both function and atmosphere while honoring the home’s architectural roots.

To accommodate a wall-hung toilet without reducing the limited footprint, a new 2×6 framed wall was constructed in front of the existing exterior wall. This strategic “double wall” solution conceals the carrier system and plumbing infrastructure while maintaining clean lines and preserving valuable floor space. The result is a streamlined profile that enhances both visual openness and ease of maintenance.

Custom millwork played a central role in the room’s character. A fabricated teak recessed mirrored medicine cabinet adds warmth and texture, while integrated storage shelving provides practical organization without cluttering the space. Thoughtful detailing, refined materials and a restrained palette work together to create a bath that feels calm, tailored, and quietly luxurious; a contemporary insertion that complements the spirit of the original home.
